The great India Run Event

Member of Parliament Kartikeya Sharma presented the torch of ‘The Great India Run’ to the Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar during a felicitation ceremony. It was organised in honour of the medal winners and players from Haryana who participated at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022 here on Tuesday.

The marathon, which was organised by iTV Network and iTV Foundation to commemorate the 75th Amrit Mahotsav of Independence and celebrate PM Narendra Modi’s ‘Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign’, saw 11 brave ultra-runners led by Arun Bhardwaj run for 829 km from Lal Chowk, Kashmir to New Delhi carrying the torch that was gifted to CM Khattar. He honoured the players with cash prizes and mementoes. The gold medalist was given a cash prize of Rs 1 crore 50 lakh, while silver medalists were awarded Rs 75 lakh, and the bronze medalists Rs 50 lakh. The athletes who finished fourth were given an amount of Rs 15 lakh.Along with this, Rs 7.50 lakh was given to the players who participated in the Commonwealth Games. A total of 29 players, including the players from the Indian women’s hockey team from Haryana, have won medals.

As per the sports policy of the state, Rs 25 crore 80 lakh and job appointment letters were given to them.It was attended by Minister of State for Sports Sardar Sandeep Singh, Cabinet Ministers Moolchand Sharma and Banwari Lal, MP Kartikeya Sharma, MLAs Satyaprakash Jarawata, Nayanpal Rawat, and Sombir Sangwan, Additional Chief Secretary, Sports Department Mahabir Prasad, and Director of Sports Department Pankaj Nain.
